SEMA Show 2014: Jayson’s Pick(s)

SEMA20141

Las Vegas becomes the mecca of automotive geniuses and visionaries every time SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturer’s Association) event is in town.  Fortunate enough to attend this year’s event to feast my eyes on creations that I know were done with extensive planning, hardwork and good partnerships.  This year I was able to witness a good variety of vehicles that impressed me due to its craftsmanship and details – creations that conformed to my liking.  So let’s start…

SEMA20140

#Brotherlylove.  Tjin Edition Ford Fiesta ST and Honda Fit

It’s one thing to work with friends on car builds but to make it a family affair is another.  I can just imagine how the brothers bounced ideas at one another -as crazy as these guys are; they probably used, and abused Denny (@dayuumDen) as a cushion to exert their brotherly frustrations.  But in the end, both vehicles were highly recognized by Ford and Honda for an outstanding vision.

#NotaRocketBunny. The internet breakers Noel’s Varis FRS and Yogi’s widebody GS

These Asiatic Red Devils just killed it… Nope Kim K didn’t break the internet first… Do you remember when this FRS flooded the facebook and IG feeds? When Noel first broke out the FRS with the Airrex suspension? How about the time when he revealed his Rocket Bunny with the Work VS-KF wheels  and lastly showing off with the full Varis Kit and SSR’s newest wheel, the Professor TF1.  Simple but tasteful details can be noticed not only in the exterior but under the FRS’ hood and interior as well.  I am sure brother Bert had his share of scrapes and bruises working on this FRS.

RedDevils1

RedDevils2

Well Yogi broke the internet a few days before his GS showed up in SEMA.  After months of non-stop preparation and work to complete the GS with the help from Buddha Paint, Weds, Falken and Airrex, and many more; the handcrafted widebody sedan stole the spotlight the day it was revealed.

#TheRocketBunny.  Lexus RB RC350 Fsport, SSA x AutoFashion RB NSX, RB RX7, RB R35 and RB Genesis Coupe

One build that I really wanted to see in person was the Lexus RB RC350 Fsport.  I have not driven one yet but I read a number of good reviews about the vehicle most specially the RC-F.  For me, it was like a luxury FRS on steroids. Or maybe I am just a little Lexus biased but seeing the first renderings of the RC with the RB kit, just made me want to see one in person. The RB kit enhanced the already aggressive look of the RC.  Meaty tires, mesh wheels, perfect stance, the RC will definitely be a hit once it reaches the dealerships.

RocketBunny2

RocketBunny7

Six Sigma AUTOdesign said it best, “We knew many aspects of the project would be controversial, but we wanted to stir the pot. In the end, modifying cars is like an art, what’s the point if we are all painting the same picture? Don’t be afraid to take risks! We love how the car turned out…” Kudos to you guys for taking that leap -out of the norm.

#Fanboyfavs.  Falken IND M3, Artisan NX200t, Ironman4x4 LC60, Vossen LS460, Vorsteiner M4, Sarto Racing CLK and the Hotchkis Road Runner

This IND-Distribution (based from Chicago, Il)  M3 under the Falken booth was simply stunning – no widebody add-ons but simply utilizing the usual aero enhancements that screams Form and Function. But what really drew me to this vehicle was the color scheme which may be too bold for some. The BMW Yas Marina Blue, cement gray and mint green highlights worked great for this build.

Fanboy7

Fanboy5

The very first Lexus NX200t that was fitted with an Artisan kit.  I didn’t imagine that the NX would look so good with just the kit, wheels and low ride height.  The NX series maybe the vehicle that puts the RX series out of the Lexus lineup – only time will tell…

Fanboy2

I have always been a big fan of Ironman 4×4 products.  This year they used an LC60 VX Diesel Turbo to display the quality of accessories, gear and parts they offer. I would not mind taking this LC out on a trailing trip…

Fanboy9

The big body sedan LS460 has always been in my “want” list and this long sled from Vossen was tastefully done.  The elegance of the LS460 Fsport was maintained with the addition of the Skipper front lip and air suspension.

Fanboy10

BMW Widebody M3 suited up with Vorsteiner aero.

Fanboy1

Sarto Racing CLK

Fanboy4

Who would not want to own an American Muscle if it looked this good? This Plymouth Road Runner Superbird was under the Hotchkis booth.

Fanboy3

In addition to the vehicles mentioned above , this year I’ve decided to deviate from my typical wheelhouse and highlight trucks for my SEMA 2014 picks.  From the plethora of new Jeep Rubicons and Wranglers around most of the halls, I found a few that really caught my eye.  I could not pick just one so here it goes…

These Legacy Classic conversions gives you the old classic feel with new reliable hardware.  The Legacy Classic Trucks are assembled to a customers liking – in terms of its looks and application that it will be used. 2.  Vortech BOSS F100

One of Vortech Superchargers’ booth vehicles is this 1973 Ford F100 done by High Octane Hot Rods. Owner: Jason Jones, On the Ground Designs. This truck is seriously looking like a Boss sitting still and laying frame. Under the hood you will find a 5.0L Ford Coyote engine, BOSS intake and Vortech Supercharger. Hard to find pieces and details were sourced from LMC trucks. One will not miss the massive tubs of the truck which tucks the B-Forged 595 wheels 22×9 up front and 24×14 rear. These are wrapped with Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires 265/30/22 for the fronts and super wide 405/25/24 for the rear. Sew it Seams from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania completed the truck’s interior. Audi RS4 Red Volker was used to complete the exterior looks of the BOSS.

1.  1949 Chevrolet 3100 five window pickup

Under the bright lights of the Las Vegas Convention Center, showing with the PAC racing springs booth tucks a truck that really caught my eye, this is the 1949 Chevy 3100 five window pickup. At first, its rusted out exterior will throw you off as this seem to not belong with the big boys with their shiny paint schemes. But look under the hood and you will immediately know that this beast will blow your doors off standing still. The 3100 is equipped with a fully built 442 LS engine with a 4.125 Bore and Stroke using K1 Technologies Forged Crank and Wiseco Pistons. This also has a Trick Flow Fully CNC LS3 Heads with OE LS7 rockers and titanium retainers from PAC Racing Springs. All ARP hardware was also used in putting together the powerplant of the truck. The 442 was also partnered to a Tremec 6-speed transmission with Centerforce DYAD dual disk clutch. As for its low slung ride height, PAC-JRi Racing coilovers were used. The Red Steel wheels from Coker Tire really did set off the look of the truck – wrapped in Firestone Nostalgia Drag Slicks Wide White. Although it cannot be seen behind the wheel, stopping on a dime is achieved using Wilwood Six Piston Calipers with 12 inch rotors. One of the eye catching details of the truck was the TIG Welded Butler built “Bomber Seats” with custom leather enhancements. I also liked the squared tubing interior styling as well as the bad ass grenade shift knob. The rear end of the truck just shows off the old and new pieces that really set this truck apart from the others.  Eighteen glorious months is what it took to put this beast together, this 3100 deserves a spotlight under the bright lights of Las Vegas.

SEMA Sneak Peek, Vortech 2015 Mustang Superchargers And SEMA Car

The 2015 Mustang is just hitting the streets, but that hasn’t stopped the aftermarket from getting a jump on producing parts for the all new S550. Our friends over at Vortech Superchargers are already putting together kits to boost Coyote powered 2015 Mustangs to well over 600 hp. We experienced the power of a Vortech supercharger early in our Project Wild E Coyote, and can tell you from first hand experience the parts, and the power are nothing short of incredible.

Just like the S197 before it, Vortech will be offering supercharger systems to accommodate any level of performance that a 2015 Mustang enthusiast is looking for. Beginning with the V-3 Si kit, a relatively stock Coyote should make 640 hp at the flywheel and 485 ft-lbs on just 7.5-8 psi of boost. That same V-3 Si is capable of supporting up to 775 hp on modified vehicles. That’s enough horsepower to take a S550 Mustang deep into the 10 second zone, or possibly the 9s.

If that’s not enough power, those looking for big numbers can step up to the V-7 JT-trim. This monster can propel a properly outfitted Coyote powered car deep into the 8s, as proven by racer Terry Beefcake Reeves, with his JT equipped Coyote Modified S197 holding the class ET record of 8.18 in the quarter-mile.

If you’re still looking for more, as in the 1,200-plus horsepower kind of more, then the V-7 YSi is the ticket. Based on race winning technology, the YSi is one awesome blower. If your horsepower cravings are beyond that, the guys on the Vortech tech hotline can help you out there as well.

Vortech along with Neil Tjin will be bringing a slew of hot cars to the 2014 SEMA show, including the one pictured in the rendering in this article, which is owned by Rey Rivera. The competition orange Fastback will of course wear a Vortech supercharger. Other mods will include exhaust by MagnaFlow, Forgestar F14 wheels, Nitto Tires, and Baer brakes. Look for full coverage of this car during our coverage of SEMA in just a few weeks.

If you have an S550 in your hands, or are awaiting delivery, be sure to check out the 2015 Superchargers info at the Vortech web-site.

SEMA Show 2013 – The Ladies of Sema

sema2013-0192

We all know SEMA is one of the biggest gathering of everything about automotive and this year marks another impact in the automotive industry. According to the press release, this year’s presence have recorded the largest amount of companies involved and gathered under one roof tallied in its history and I’m pretty sure that goes the same way in attendance as foot traffic was out of the ordinary. As you may all know, last year, the crew decided to pick cars that made it as their personal favorites out of the show for coverage and that’s not going to change this year but we kind of feel that wasn’t enough to sooth you guys viewing pleasures. We decided to add more content out of the SEMA show to give you guys more feel of how SEMA is being done every year. As most media people that got credited to cover SEMA, 90-95% of this coverage are all new cars, new products, and everything automotive related and we all know that’s not all that is there. Of course promoting a name brand is the top priority of these companies and to do that, they usually hire the top, well known gorgeous women in the industry. To these ladies, if they ever get hired to work for SEMA, they know they’ve made a name in the industry and kind of reach the top of their career and that is what we’re trying to show you as the other content for our coverage of this year’s SEMA show. Here are the ladies of SEMA 2013.

South hall is where all the wheels and tire companies are located and if you haven’t been to SEMA, this is the place where most of the models are in attendance and that is why I decided to cover this part of the convention first to get it done with. As soon as I enter the hall, I was greeted by the girls of Falken tires booth as they are placed right by the entrance doors. First off, we have Katie Carnes as she was posing right by the 2010 Falken Porsche 997 GT3 RSR ALMS car and also handing out falken playing cards and lanyards.

6th Annual Spring Festival of LXs

LX bodied vehicles invaded El Toro Marine base. The base is used for many events which also includes the filming of Top Gear USA and is also a test track for many print publications.

On March 26th, it was used for a different purpose, the 6th Annual Spring Festivals of LXs. Over eight hundred vehicles flooded the air base from stock, street, race, and show.

Jon Sibal – Up Close and Personal – JONSIBAL DESIGNWORKS

Vortech_Sibal-5095

About a week ago, we were lucky enough to get some seat time with the talented Jon Sibal. Some of you may have never seen his face, but you have most likely seen some of his work. He’s a bit of a mystery.

Jon has done several comic books and automotive renderings for companies such as, DC, Meguiar’s, LeftLaneNews, RWB, and many more.

You will also find Jon’s creative designs in many automotive publications.

Jon is humble, friendly, and prefers to stay behind-the-scenes rather than in front of it as his work speaks for itself.

ENJOY!

Vortech_Sibal-5042

DaYUUM: Hi Jon, thank you for your time. Tell us a little bit about JONSIBAL Designworks
Jon Siball: Thanks Denny. JONSIBAL Designworks focuses on Automotive designs and Illustrations. We design concept renderings, liveries, to full body kits for clients all over the world.

DaYUUM: How did you get into automotive designs and illustrations? We hear you also do some dabbling with comics, do you care to  elaborate on that?
Jon Sibal: Drawing cars has always been something that I enjoyed since I was young. When I was finally able to afford my own car, it became the subject of my many artworks. Being in the import scene here in So. Cal, it was crucial for me personally to have a unique ride. I liked a lot of different body kits in the market but at that time, nothing really stood out. So I started mixing up different body parts and combining it with my own designs. It would be very expensive to just fork out the money to buy these parts without knowing if it will look good or not so I went and learned Photoshop so I can create a photo-realtistic rendering of what my car would look like. I also learned that this helped tremendously with conveying my vision to my body shop. This worked out well and started to do more automotive designs from there.

I’m a comic book artist by trade, since 1992. I started with Image Comics working with Top Cow and Extreme Studios. Then later went freelance and worked for Marvel Comics and DC Comics.

List of titles that I’ve worked on are:-MARVEL COMICS-
Uncanny X-Men
X-MEN
X-23
Spiderman
Fantastic Four
Supreme Squadron
Supreme Power
The Avengers

Fantastic Four-DC COMICS-
Superman
Wonder Woman
Supergirl

Action Comics-IMAGE COMICS-
Tomb Raider
Fathom
Midnight Nation
Darkness

The last book I worked on was the graphic novel BATMAN Earth One with Gary Frank written by Geoff Johns. Although currently, most of my work is Automotive-related, I still love working on Comics as much as drawing cars. It’s truly a blessing to do both.

DaYUUM: Impressive resume! Were you the type of student that doodled on your book covers and folders? And did you ever think as a kid you were going to illustrate as a career?
Jon Sibal: Yeah def got in trouble as my notebooks were filled with “Voltes V” drawings.

I never really thought this is what I would be doing as a career. If you’re Filipino, you pursue Nursing lol j/k. I probably should’ve have as it’s better pay and benefits. But in all seriousness, although there are plenty of challenges, I love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

DaYUUM: What inspirations did you have growing up? Personally I loved Voltron, Transformers, and Spiderman.
Jon Sibal: My biggest influences and inspirations came from the Japanese Anime in the late ’70s to the early ’80s. From Voltes V to Mazinger Z , you name it, I was captivated by them.

DaYUUM: Let me Google on who those are and maybe I can produce amazing art… haha… You’re big into the automotive scene and you currently produce a ton of renderings for clients. Tell us a little bit on how you start your latest projects.
Jon Sibal: Haha, yeah, if you’re pinoy and you grew up there during that time, those were you’re heroes no doubt! Every project requires a different approach but most starts with a lot of research and studying about the subject matter.

DaYUUM: Let’s talk about your Challenger, how do you start the project and how do you decide what parts are installed on it.
Jon Sibal: Pretty much the same way actually. I’d like to do a lot of reading and researching before I move forward with any upgrades/ mods. This part of the process gives me a basic knowledge of my options. Then it’s a matter of figuring out the proper combination of parts for cohesiveness.

DaYUUM: You seem pretty in tune with fit and finish. The colors on your challenger is a  nice matte black with gloss stripes on them. Is that a wrap? Also, tell us a little about your wheel and suspension combination.
Jon Sibal: It is a wrap courtesy of WRAPTIVO from Meguiar’s. It’s a 3M Matte Black with DINOC film on the roof of the car. To break it up a bit, I had Josh Daley from Daley Visual apply a Gloss Black racing stripe across the front and rear end of the car.

The wheels are SSR SP1 Professor 3-pc wheels specifically made for this application. They were powder coated in Vintage Matte Gold to give the car that retro look. The suspension is from Air Runner air suspension with a capability of adjusting ride height via iPhone.

Vortech_Sibal-5020

Vortech_Sibal-5060

DaYUUM: Awesome, JDM parts on a domestic car must ruffle some feathers with the purists. What do you have as power adders for engine?
Jon Sibal: Yeah I got some heat from those who didn’t like the idea of Japanese wheels on Domestics but the SSR SP1 5-spoke designs combined with a step lip barrels were exactly what I wanted. I’m just glad that they made it in 20″ and in 5×115 bolt pattern.

The added power comes via Vortech Supercharger, certainly one of the mods that made me fall in love with this car again.

DaYUUM: How much boost are you running? And, how did it change the drivability of it?
Jon Sibal: The system is set at 7psi. The drivability when off-boost didn’t change much actually. Very civil on the streets until you stomp on the gas pedal and boost kicks in. Then the size of your grin becomes proportion to the RPM and Speed lol.

DaYUUM: Vroom vroom… haha.. One last question, what new build can we see from JonSibal in the near future? Any personal builds in the pipeline?
Jon Sibal: There are plenty of builds I wanna do but then reality kicks in and I realized I’m broke so I think I’m just gonna try to get my E36 back up and running someday.

DaYUUM: Is there anyone you would like to thank? A mentor? Anyone?
Jon Sibal: I wanna thank everyone that had supported me, my family, friends, my car crew and to all my sponsors that believed in my vision. And above all, I thank God for all of it.

Thanks Jon, we appreciate your time and good luck to you on all your future projects. To browse Jon’s work, you can find him on his social outlets.  FACEBOOK , Twitter and Instagram at @jonsibal, or at www.jonsibal.com

Thank you!

Vortech Super chargers Wins Dyno Day at Evasive Motorsports

Vortech_FRS_1

Over the weekend was Evasive Motorsports’ FR-S / BRZ Dyno Day. Evasive Motorsports is no stranger to the platform, as they have built a boosted FR-S for Global Time Attack. Evasive’s facility houses a Mustang Dynamometer which is said to produce the most accurate and reliable dyno readings because of its ability to simulate load under “real-world” driving conditions, which is much different from other brands that use a free spinning drum, thus exaggerating the numbers upward.

Representing Team Vortech Superchargers was Robert Kochis, a.k.a. Staycrushing, and his Hot Lava Scion FR-S, equipped with a Gear-driven V-3 H67BC centrifugal supercharger. The intercooled system is a complete bolt-on with all the necessary belts, pulleys and reusable high-flow air filter. Robert’s FR-S is mildly tuned at 6PSI.

Vortech_FRS_Dyno
During that day, Robert’s FR-S pulled an impressive 209WHP and 160TQ on Evasive’s Mustang Dynamometer.  These numbers were good enough to surpass all the others that day, including the Green HKS powered FR-S from Garage FR-S that dynode at a respectable 200WHP (reported).

Formula D – Title Fight – Irwindale 2012

Title FIght is Formula Drift’s last round of the year. Typically it boils down to a few drivers fighting for the title and this year was no different. With seven drivers in the battle (mathematically) it put a lot of pressure on the field. Amongst the seven were Frederic Aasbo, Justin Pawlak, rookie – Daigo Saito, Rhys Millen, Ryan Tuerck, Daijiro Yoshihara, and Vaughn Gittin Jr; but realistically, the battle was between the top three: Vaughn, Daigo, and Rhys. As motorsports go, you never know what will happen till the end.

In between runs and rounds, there are many many vendors and Fatlace’s Slammed Society to pass time.

Marissa Hiroko was on deck with Fontana Nissan as well as Maurico’s S14 while Ashley Clark was chilling with the guys at Whiteline.

We also spotted Autofashion and HPI Racing with Falken

Kevin from Autofashion can be seen here with his FR-S cleaning up HRE’s newest flow mold wheels.

In stylish fashion Scion Racing had their interactive display out

And special thanks to WIlwood for letting us use their trailer to house our equipment.

To keep the spectators amused there were some fresh cars on display at the Slammed Society

the Low N Slow Crew

Royal Orgin made it out.

I love this Miata

Super cherry RHD CRX

That was just a glimpse of the paddock and Slammed Society. Here is Tony Brakohiapa’s Vortech Supercharged Mustang.

We have more pictures on our Facebook.

Mid-afternoon was time for a little practice.

You can see Aasbo and Daigo lining up.

Here is 18 year old Pat with his APEXi SC430

eBay Motors, Vortech Supercharged Mustang driven by Tony Brakohiapa

Rhys Millen and his Hankook Hyundai.

Always a crowd favorite is Justin Pawlak

And Falken Tire teammate Darren McNamara

Ken Gushi and his GReddy Sponsored Scion FR-S

Gushi’s Scion Racing teammate Tony Angelo rocking Gushi’s previous tC.

Completing the Scion Racing Trio is Fredric Aasbo from Need for Speed.

Discount Tire / Falken driver Daijiro Yoshihara

Here is a close flight between Dai and Vaughn.

Here is a battle between Forsberg and Diago during practice.

This This was a tight battle between Gushi and RS*R Toshiki Yoshioka, Ken eventually would edge out Toshiki to advance to Top 16.

The House of Drift brought many crashes, here was Forsberg and Grunewald duking it out when Forsberg tapped the wall ending his day. Grunewald would advance to Top 16.

The top 32 battle with Aasbo and McNamara. Aasbo would advance to face Robbie Nishida.

Night quicky fell and there was a nice break between the rounds, but top 16 was heating up!

Here comes the Top 16!

Nexen – Kyle Mohan

Achilles Tire – Daigo Saito

GReddy Racing / Scion Racing / Hankook Tire – Ken Gushi

Need For Speed / Nitto Tire – Matt Powers

Need For Speed / Scion Racing / Hankook Tire – Fredric Aasbo

CX Racing / Maxxis Tire – Matt Field

Red Bull / Hyundai / Hankook – Rhys Millen

eBay Motors / Yokohama – Tony Brakohipa

APEXi / Yokohama – Pat Mordaunt

And his umbrella dude?

Retakes / Maxxis – Ryan Tuerck

Mobil 1 / Yokohama – Tyler McQuarrie

Falken Tire / Monster Energy Drinks – Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Scion Racing / Hankook – Tony Angelo

Falken Tire – Justin Pawlak

Hankook – Conrad Grunewald

And, somehow I missed Robbie Nishida

The Top 16 rolls out!

Right off the bat, 18 year old Pat Mordaunt edged out Gittin and knocked him out early in the top 16 when Gittin spun out on his chase run.

Here is Matt Field chasing the Gush

Matt Field getting a big jump on Gushi –  Matt Fields would bump Gushi out of the top 16 and advances to the top 8

Tony was no match for the concrete walls at House of Drift as it took another victim. Justin Pawlak would advance to the top 8 with Tony’s crash.

I wasn’t joking when I said House of Drift took a lot of victims…

Tony Brakohiapa hits it hard.

Aasbo and Nishida took center stage when Aasbo’s chase run ended his season by this spinout, almost identical to what happend to Gittin.

During the top 8, the biggest battle of the evening was between Matt Field and Daigo Saito, with one-more-times on cue, they had the tightest battle on the track. Daigo eventually took the win and advance to the top 4 to face Rhys Millen – but without controversy.

Perhaps the biggest turning point of the evening was when Rhys Millen and his turbo-charged V6 tapped the wall and ended his 2012 season, thus handing the 2012 championship to rookie Daigo Saito.

Here was Gitten congratulating Saito-san.

With the result of Rhys crash Ryan Tureck went on to take 3rd in Irwindale.

In the final, it was Justin Pawlak and Daigo Saito and with the battle well into the night; Pawlak tapped the wall and ended his season with a wrecked car and a 2nd place, giving rookie Daigo Saito the win in Irwindale and the 2012 Formula D Championship.

What an exciting night at the House of Drift and a great season. Thanks FD for the hospitality and can’t wait to see what 2013 brings. If you want any gear visit, shopfd.com

Good bye.

AirPower Group Hits the Street – Part 3 – Vortech Superchargers

Just released is Vortech Superchargers part 3 of their famous “Hitting The Streets” series. Aside from the impressive cars, this video features the lovely DaYUUM Angels,  Marissa, Ashley, and Amanda as they will take part in 2012’s SEMA Show with the AirPower Group (Vortech, Paxton, Lysholm) at booth# 23063

The 3rd chapter is all about the power, the boost, the lifestyle. Marissa starts off the video with the brand new, hot off the presses Vortech Supercharging System for the 5.7L Challenger R/T. This complete kit takes your HEMI up to an amazing 503 Horsepower and 563 Torque at only 7.5psi.

Next, we meet up with Arseniy’s VF-Engineering Supercharged E92 M3, which utilizes a Vortech V-3 Si Supercharger and brings the Vorsteiner widebody equipped Bimmer up to a staggering 650 Horsepower and 420 Torque. Got a BMW of your own that needs boost? Maybe you should get in touch with VF-Engineering too!

After that, we get a short glimpse of what a ride along with 17 time IJSBA National Champion Dustin Farthing would be like on his Vortech V-50 B60 Supercharged Yamaha Personal Watercraft. Could you hold on when he rockets 0-60 in just over 2 seconds?

The boost and the power keep rising from there, as we catch up to Ashley with Jeremy’s Triple Threat Fox Body Mustang. This car is the real deal, and can impress everywhere – On the street, at the track, or at the car show. Equipped with a built 347 engine and a Vortech V-7 YSi @ 23psi, Jeremy’s Fox annihilates the road with an incredible 806 Horsepower and 689 Torque TO THE REAR WHEELS!

Last but certainly not least, after a little help around the shop from Amanda, Ashton hits the street and then the track with his V-3 Si Supercharged 2012 5.0L Mustang GT. Lapping those other guys is no problem with over 600 Horsepower on tap at just 7.5psi!

Enjoy!

AirPower Group Hits the Street – Part 2 – Vortech / Paxton

The second video by the AirPower Group features some more cool rides featuring power adders by Vortech and Paxton Superchargers. The second installment features, the Tjin Edition 700+HP Camaro SS, the record breaking Mustang GT by Creations n’ Chrome, a sleeper SRT8 Jeep, and a stylish Infiniti G35 Sedan.

A great mix of drama, performance, and excitement. This stunning 3-minute video shows what the AirPower Group has to offer, whether its for style or function, they have a supercharger for any application.

Apparently there will be more videos to come, so we are excited to see what’s next!

Universal Technical Institute – Ford Mustang GT Convertible – Tjin Edition

SEMA has been the holy grail of auto events for many years. It’s what most builders stride for. It’s the icing on the cake, the Mt. Everest for car builders and designers. Leading up to this event, builders are frantically getting all the nuts and bolts tidied up, companies are finalizing all the logistical nightmares associated with it, and enthusiasts are praying their bossy bosses give them the time off needed to attend this event. At SEMA, the sight is overwhelming, car porn some say, a visual orgasm – to say the least.

SEMA builds take careful planning in order to execute a successful build. And, that’s the reason why Universal Technical Institute (UTI), a vocational school, contacted the Tjin Edition crew to assist in their SEMA projects. Their relationship started in 2010 when UTI and Tjin Edition built a Ford Fiesta as a giveaway car, which debuted in the Ford booth at SEMA. The Fiesta was then brought to many UTI campuses and toured with the Tjin Edition Roadshow. At the end of the 2011 show season, it was given away to a lucky entrant.

In 2011, the two collaborated again, except this time it’s with a 2012 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT Convertible.  Why Tjin Edition? Tjin Edition has a deep history in the automotive industry. Having built and designed cars for the last decade and a half, they have polished their work and have taken design into a different direction. A direction that doesn’t exactly follow trendy styles but a direction the sets their own style that is clean, stylish, and detail orientated – not fads or gaudy bolt-ons that mimic Lamborghini.

For the GT build, UTI and Tjin Edition masterminded with Gurnade Designs for a scheme that was attractive, yet powerful. After a few look-overs and some minor tweaks, the perfect rendition for the GT was completed.

Six weeks before SEMA, a silky black Mustang GT Convertible arrived at the Tjin Edition stable. Without any hesitation, the black horse was carriaged to L&R Autobody where it was molested and disrobed. For 2-weeks the custom DuPont Orange was meticulously applied to cover it’s scuffed shell. Like all of Tjin Edition builds, the paint is sprayed throughout – engine, jams, the complete shell. Every piece that could be removed was. This ensures perfect coverage around pesky corners and hard to reach areas. During the time at L&R, the interior was removed and covered in black leather with yellow diamond stitching. The final touches were the UTI logos on the headrests.

At the time of assembly, the Scosche Realm audio system was added into the GT. All wiring and signal cables were complements of Scosche EFX. In addition, two air tanks and Nitrous Express bottles were painted to color match the exterior.

While the paint was still fresh, the GT was hustled to the AirPower Group, the home of Paxton Supercharging System in Oxnard. Paxton was in charge of giving the well mannered 5.0L GT a lot more gallop.  At Paxton, the team carefully analyzed the components of the fresh engine and fitted it with a NOVI 2200SL Supercharger, an air-to-air intercooler, and dyno-tuned the beast to 615HP with 475ft. lbs. of torque.

The GT was then taken back to home base at Unique Fabrication in Irvine where Adam and his crew installed the 6-piston Baer brakes and 15.5” rotors. A CDC light bar was also installed.

While at Unique, the Forgestar Concave CF10 20” wheels were fitted to improve the overall appearance. It was then finished off with a set of Falken FK452 rubber – allowing the GT the shoes it deserves to gallop. The Tjin Edition team then installed the AirLift air suspension to the GT, which gave it the proper look while cruising or parked.

On the road, the throaty sound of the MagnaFlow resonates and has no problem letting people know it has Paxton Power!

But to keep speeds in check, an Escort 9500 with external sensors were installed to monitor any suspicious ticket writers.

Other touches include the Lightworks LED headlight treatment; the Tangent Aluminum bolt kit, and pinstriped Forgestar wheels.

It surprises many that this build took 6-weeks from time of delivery to the time it left for SEMA. For many, a flawless execution like the GT could take months and maybe years.

Like the Fiesta, this GT can be yours; all it takes is a visit to UTI’s page for your chance to win.

If you want to see it in person check out Tjin Edition Roadshow’s tour schedule.

In the meantime, check out the video done by PVR Motorsports.
