SEMA 2016 Recap

sema-2016-6061

sema-2016-6064If you are an automotive enthusiast, then you know the mecca of car events, SEMA. We’ve covered it through the years and since the recession, it has gotten bigger and bigger every year. This year SEMA celebrates it’s 50th year and without a doubt, it’s also a reunion of current and past partners. It’s a week where you can gorge on 50 dollar buffet dinners and not feel too guilty because you’re walking an average of 10 miles a day. With over 3000 vehicles, it’s easy to miss a good amount. therefore. you walk though the halls and snap whatever catches your attention.

For example, the field-savaged, body-dropped, rotary-powered, 510 built by Twisted Images, sitting low on AirLift suspension and classic BBS wheels.sema-2016-6236

Wekfest LA – 2015

Wekfest blessed us with another great event at the Queen Mary Event Center. The venue was filled with more than 500 cars and housed several thousand spectators. Wekfest LA, actually in Long Beach, was the third showing for the Tjin Edition x DaYUUM RoadShow, where we were placed in the infamous “tear drop.” It gave us a beautiful view and a cool breeze. Much cooler than on the black asphalt. Throughout the day, we had a steady stream of enthusiasts in line for our Meguiar’s goody bags. Wekfest LA, was also the first time the Tjin Edition Honda FIT was displayed in the US, other than the SEMA Show, where it debuted. We had special guests, Meguiar’s and Hubert from Phase2 with his stunning MKIV joining us as well.

For those of you who haven’t, now you have….Neil Tjin and the crew have a little baller on their hands. Time to pull out the heavy artillery. Check out the Basketball Reel of Bballer Collin Tjin.

AutoCon LA 2014 – Recap

Photos by John – @DaYUUMJdquilla

DSC_1270 copyAutoCon celebrates its 5th event in the L.A. area, transitioning its way from a shopping mall parking structure, to the Irvine event center, to the home of thoroughbred winners at Santa Anita Park, and now to the famous Pomona Fairplex, the previous home of Import Showoff. The AutoCon staff chose an indoor event in the attempt to keep the guests cool, since the biggest feedback from previous events was the heat. But, with the controlled and political environment it also deleted the gathering of food trucks that AutoCon drew an abundance of. Interior space was an issue as the larger vendors with larger booths were pushed outdoors, which some guests didn’t even know existed.

The outdoors was still pleasurable as the sun only poke through just enough to catch a quick burn. AutoCon was our largest display thus far with a total of 5 vehicles and our newly Daley Visual wrapped cargo hauler.

Extreme Autofest Anaheim 2013

Oh Fricken ‘eh man! It’s been one event after another and I totally skipped out on Extreme Autofest Anaheim coverage. I don’t know how I managed to do that since all the photos have been filtered already.

Extreme Autofest is one of those shows that combine import, domestic, and motorsports in one spot. In fact, it even covers a completely different automotive culture as well. Live entertainment is always a part of EAF as well.

EAF_ANAHEIM_2013-7280

EAF_ANAHEIM_2013-7281We are typically situated in the import section because the orientation of our eyes, but we do greatly appreciate the quality, time, and efforts the lowrider guys put into their rides. Its a night and day difference in builds. Those guys are like hot rod builders, they spend so much time and money on their paint, undercarriage, motors, displays, and props. For the most part, the import show scene should be a little more detailed oriented like those guys, rather than slapping on a set of wide ass wheels with pulled fenders and calling it a day, I’d like to see more people concentrate on the details in the import scene. At one point it was getting that way, then everything shifted on its axis and people were cambering cars that were never meant to be cambered – but I get it. Its the trend, the style – I’m just saying, its a “show” car, it should be complete. I do like all the shaved and tucked bays in our scene though, that’s a good direction.

While strolling the lowrider portion of the show, I found it surprising that we couldn’t sneak a 16oz. Arrowhead bottle of water into the venue but the lowrider guys somehow were able to sneak in a whole bar worth of Tecate and weed – a whole lot of it.

We had Neil of Tjin Edition’s Ford Fusion with us this year and it was interesting to see so many people crawl underneath the car to check out the exhaust. We also had Jayson’s IS350 and Nilo’s NSX which was its first public debut of the wrap and the AirREX Suspension.

PS – Happy Belated Birthday!

Motion Auto Show 2012 – Long Beach – Part 1

Motion Auto Show 2012 was held at the Long Beach Convention Center, is an event to look forward to every year. Another great event that always gets packed no matter what. From vendors, to show cars, to models, and of course the spectators, it seems to be bigger than last year’s turn out. They even had the dance competition and the bikini contest which had more competitors and more people attending this year. Motion also accomidated a space for us to show and sell our latest shirts and stickers and to house our three lovely DaYUUM Angels, Ashley, Marissa, and Amanda, and of course to meet our fans as well. We want to thank Motion for giving us the opportunity and for having us be a part of one of the greatest shows here in Cali. We can’t wait for the next one. With that being said, here’s the first part of the show where we cover most of the car show portion. We will have the models and the bikini contest later on for part 2 so stay tuned.
