Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world - Harriet Tubman Photos: Matthew WongScott Ishida, Ashley Tanabe, and Shane KotomoriWords: Scott IshidaCar Owner: Ashley Tanabe I first was introduced to Ashley during the summer of 2017, several of my friends had mentioned that she was a passionate automotive enthusiast that was from the island of Hawaii. At the time we first met, she was an owner of a "swaggy" Champagne Mode Parfume Lexus GS. The Lexus was equipped with air suspension topped off with Work Meister S1 3P wheels with all around Endless Big Brake.Towards the end of 2017, Ashley was lucky enough to finally own a 1997 Porsche 911. We took a drive down to Pasadena, hoping and praying the Porsche wouldn't die out!In 1997 cars didn't have the luxury of having an AUX or Bluetooth connectivity to listen to music. You either had to listen to the radio or use a cassette tape. This Porsche was equipped with a newer Porsche Design head unit which had a CD player. Positive: We had music blasting in the car. Negative:  The CD that was in the Porsche was all the hits from the early 70's. One song in particular by The Five Stairsteps - Ooh Child was the song that was on repeat all night."Ooh-oo child, Things are gonna get easier, Ooh-oo child, Things'll get brighter"Ashley has been an automotive enthusiast for over 15 years. Throughout that time she defiantly had her fair share of builds varying from off-road vehicles, ricey (is that a word?) Honda's, to VIP style cars.  However the one thing consistent between them has been that she's always strived to be the “first” in some aspect; which is relatively easy coming from Hawaii since the trends tend to hit there last (or not at all).In 2017 by a leap of faith, Ashley became connected with a Porsche modification/repair facility in Costa Mesa (Sleeper’s Speed Shop).  She had mentioned "The one reason why I have never ventured into the European market is due to the lack of parts availability & qualified technicians in Hawaii so with this newfound connection, I started to “browse” the market."  She landed upon a random craigslist find in San Diego & ended up purchasing the 993 sight unseen with the help of AutoFashion & Sleepers. The next step was a bit more difficult for Ashley, determining if she should stick to the Porsche Purist route which was equally tempting thanks to the influence of 911Cooled & their CoolFuchs Crew or “chop up a perfectly good car” and go RWB. For those who don't know Ashley...she's pretty indecisiveHowever sooner than later, the “need to be first” attitude got the best of her. She ending up going RWB due to the fact that it has not been done in Hawaii and the RWB female builder percentage is predominantly low (so I had to represent my fellow female automotive enthusiasts & prove that we can build an equally quality build)."And that my friends, is how Hawaii RWB#1 was born in the Aloha State!" Upgrades:-SSR SP1 (Front 18x10.5 / Rear 18x13)-Toyo R888R (Front 265/30/18 / Rear 335/30/18)-Fister Stage III Sport Exhaust-Rennline Interior Components-Recaro Seats-Sparco Harnesses-Custom Sleepers Speed Shop Roll Bar-CAE Shifter-Retrofit Source Bi-Xenon RWB Projectors
