NUROTAG Los Angeles 2014 - Recap
“NUROTAG is an event series platform, based on a curated-selection of the automotive lifestyle industry. The events are set up as a pop up, contemporary and alternative showroom. They bring together the leading purveyors of the auto tuning industry: the movers, the shakers and the tastemakers. NUROTAG caters to the needs of its followers looking for a higher level of design and aesthetic with a strong emphasis on style, art, music and culture.”NUROTAG is a successful group based in Miami, their events feature, popular DJs, bands, musicians, and a jaw dropping spokesmodel as part of the NUROTAG show series. Yes, series… For the first time in 2014, NUROTAG have expanded their Miami production nationwide visiting 7 new cities: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Chicago, Las Vegas, Austin, and Virginia Beach. We have had the great opportunity to be a part of the NUROTAG event series, our partners Tjin Edition, have actively hit the east coast, while us, Tjin Edition x DaYUUM RoadShow molest the west. Our first trip to San Francisco was to NUROTAG at the beautiful Craneway Pavillion. It was a challenging gig trying to follow a similar event, in the same location just a weekend prior, but nevertheless, it was a great event with clean cars, good music, and awesome company.Penetrating a new region is tough, not only for the automotive industry but for any. Take for example, retail chain stores or the food industry, they take years, often times decades to expand into a new region. So many factors come into light such as logistics, operations, and marketing. What may have worked for years in their homebase will not necessarily become successful in a different market or even 400 hundred miles away. Have you been to a 7-11 here in So Cal and then a 7-11 in Hawaii? While both are 7-11’s, they have different choices, such as spam masubi! It’s the small details that help people relate in their specific regions and it takes time to adapt. It’s easy to form an opinion of any event because we have so many in So Cal to compare them against and there isn’t one event that does it perfect, they all have their faults - at least in my eyes. So Cal is a tough market to penetrate, but if executed correctly, it can be very rewarding. Many people come here from across the nation with the hopes and expectation of reaching instant stardom. Why not? It’s the Hollywood dream!NUROTAG has a great concept to keep everyone entertained, 3on3 basketball, a popular DJ, a live band, shoes, BMX demo, and a popular spokesmodel! With those elements into place, there has to be at least one or two things that peaks an individual, at least a little. We spoke with Abel, the founder of NUROTAG, on a few subjects, and from speaking with him, we know he has the drive, the passion, the commitment, and a free mind to make NUROTAG successful - nationwide. He has one of the friendliest and easiest staff members we have dealt with, it’s refreshing because So Cal is full of nonsense egos. People fail to realize that outside of your social bubble no one knows you! I stepped away from the industry for a few years and believe me, no one outside of your bubble of followers care if you won infinite amount of trophies or created a memorable event. We are glad to see Abel and his team take their successful event out of Miami and into 7 other cities. It’s not easy to have a series, so much money and time is involved to make it happen so big props to the crew for all their hard work! I know they will reach the goals they have set for themselves.During the event, foot traffic was light, but we had a steady stream of people enter our booth. We continued to accept entries for our giveaway items from Scosche, Magnaflow, Vortech, and Shakeology by Beach Body coach Mei. If numbers tell you anything in terms of quality, the amount of people we had signing up eclipsed many of the established shows we attended so far this year. For this event, we were smack in the middle of the show floor with a massive 100’x50’ set up in the front and a 100’x60’ in the rear, creating a compound with our trailer in the middle.Julio and Lillian from UTI graced us with their presence at this event. And, close by was our friends from Wheel Warehouse and their '69 Caprice with a Vortech Supercharged 350 small block.Front center was our tow vehicle, a widebodied F-150 crew cab that was slammed on the frame.Josh with Daley Visual also graced us with his chrome Tundra. To the left of it we had guests from Phaze 2 with Mikey’s Integra, Noel’s FR-S, and Mark’s M5.To the right, we brought out Nilo’s NSX, Christian’s FR-S, and Phaze 2 Ken with his widebodied Z.The rear we had Brian from Infinite Auto Design lead the pack with his R500, while Neil from Team Klassified had his. Included was Darren and Robert from Magnaflow. There definitely wasn’t a shortage of great builds at NUROTAG. Being in So Cal, it’s hard to avoid a lot of them, but on a spectator side, it’s great. We see these cars at meets and other shows because we attend over 2 dozen organized events throughout the year. It’s perfect for spectators that do not have the opportunity to get out at all, or for friends and family coming into town to see what goes on in your hobby. We constantly get asked if we are attending XXXX show, even though we have already been to half a dozen prior to it. I think that’s what is great about the choices and options we have here. And, it’s always changing.LTMW brought out an arsenal of widebody rides that's been plaster over the net, but seeing them with your own eyes are a treat.
