RISC-52Attending Relaxing in So Cal reminded me of the 80’s and 90’s when we cruised Carl’s Jr’s and Camolot (scam-o-lot) in Anaheim. Mini-trucks had crawl-throughs and walk-throughs and a wall of subs took place of the factory windows. The frames were so low they were knocking reflectors off the streets and notching frames was common. Since then, the scene has slowed down because of the rapid growth of Sport Compacts. Honda’s were peaking as the choice of vehicle. Owners were trading in their air-cooled VW’s, Mazda B-Series trucks, and Toyota’s with 22Rs for 1.6 and 1.8 litre Hondas and Acuras. What’s different is the heart and soles of some never left. The truck scene was still around, and the club Relaxed Atmosphere was always there.RISC-49RISC-51Fast-forward 3 decades, the truck scene is very much alive and kicking. The builds have become more radical with extensive body drops, frame offs, and elaborate interiors. We chose to attend Relaxing in So Cal because we wanted to bring out our latest creation, the Tjin Edition widebodied F150. While the mods may not be unique, the style certainly is.RISC-23RISC-104Briefly, Neil managed to design a truck that is both functional and appealing. It features an Unique Fabrication step-notched frame, 4-link suspension, raised gas tank, widened bed & front fenders, smoothed roll pan, air suspension, custom body work, Baer big brake kit, and custom 24x10F; 24x12R Rotiform wheels. The best of all, it is also our tow vehicle and pulls our 24’ cargo trailer. The air suspension auto levels with Accuair’s e-level air management system with dual Viair 480 compressors to keep the tank full.RISC-17RISC-18RISC-101Joining us in the booth also was Jurrian's Vortech Supercharged Mustang on Forgestar wheels. Not quite, a truck but still a very well received vehicle.RISC-3RISC-18RISC-4RISC-5RISC-9RISC-8RISC-7RISC-98RISC-6RISC-11RISC-12RISC-13RISC-14RISC-25RISC-26RISC-90RISC-92RISC-91In Tjin Edition x DaYUUM fashion, we brought out our trailer and supporting partners.RISC-30Close by was the turbocharged Toyota Camry rally car sporting the old school TRD livery.RISC-33RISC-34A few steps away was the dragged out Toyota Sequoia dubbed “DragQuoia” with a big ‘ole TRD blower hanging out of it pushing 650 HP.RISC-31Directly behind it in the Alpine entry way was the Scion xB limo built by the Cartel team.RISC-32Sitting beside it was the Five Axis LS-F.RISC-37RISC-39RISC-40I loved the old school Datsuns next to each other. One resembled the Devil Z from the popular Japanese manga, Wangan Midnight.RISC-38RISC-41A pair of american history was also in attendance.RISC-42RISC-43RISC-44RISC-45RISC-46RISC-47RISC-48RISC-50The truck scene takes a different approach than the sport compact scene. Often times, builds are themed with elaborate displays or insane paint jobs. I am glad to see the exclusion of cotton in places where owners try to hide dirt.RISC-54RISC-61RISC-55RISC-60RISC-56RISC-59RISC-57RISC-58I was really glad to see a handful of air-cooled VW’s. As some may know, I have a deep passion for them.RISC-62RISC-64RISC-65This was pretty fresh, I believe it's an older Toyota XCab with a factroy carbed 22R, but I could be wrong. It was sitting on a set of HRE’s with shaved everything and suicide doors, a body drop, and a matching trailer. The theme of this truck was all rock ‘n’ roll, featuring airbrushed faces of popular and famous artists. Definitely a lot of time and money spent on this truck!RISC-66Spotted this Magnum representing DaYUUM!RISC-67Old school matte orange Chevy.RISC-71RISC-69Pinstriping is an art and these glasswares were pretty awesome.RISC-72Sweet decked out choppers.RISC-74RISC-73Event shirts are always a popular item at these events and whomever the art was, did an awesome job on the artwork. I also spotted our Tjin Edition x DaYUUM RoadShow logo on the tee!RISC-75Nice main stage in the middle of street.RISC-76Wooden bike?RISC-77RISC-78RISC-79Bernie from Dub-Nation.com was there also with is VW Eurovan hitched up to Airbagged Trailers with his MK6 in tow! So fresh… I loved the whole ensemble.RISC-80RISC-81Another bad-ass creation was this suicide doored, Chevy dually. It had custom sheet metal throughout and a dropped body.RISC-82RISC-83Here is a set of dual purpose rigs. 1) it closed off the street 2) they were fresh!RISC-84I love 60’s CamarosRISC-85Camo liner!?RISC-88RISC-89There was a young girl bumping this ride throughout the show. The music pumping from it was Not Safe For Work.RISC-87RISC-86hydros! and more!RISC-100RISC-105RISC-106The day ended with Vortech presenting an award to Jurrian for the Hottest Vortech charged vehicle in the show.We hope to attend some truck runs in the future and more events. The guys at RA did a great job in organizing and had pretty awesome wooden awards to boot! Thank you Relax Atmosphere for having us and thank you to Justin, Michelle, Jayson, Liza, and Paul for helping out that day.until later… Den
