Hot VWs Drag Day is held twice a year in SoCal. With a 1/8th mile Drag Strip, Swap Meet, and Show N' Shine display area – there was something for everyone. Being a huge Volkswagen fan, this was the ideal place for me to be on a sunny Sunday afternoon!I’ve been to Irwindale Speedway many, many times – but never for this event. As I started walking through the parking lot I noticed 2 long lines of VWs. They were waiting to check- in and get setup for the day.I was able to snap a few shots before they disappeared into the drivers-only area.On my way to the drag strip I made my way through the Show N' Shine area. There was an amazing variety of VWs on display.I took my time looking around, but before I knew it I had to find a seat. After all, I didn't want to miss any of the action on the drag strip!!This was actually my first time seeing drag racing in person. I must say, it was pretty exciting!I really enjoyed seeing so many different VWs compete.The drag racing wasn't just for old-school VWs either.After the races I had to walk the Show N' Shine area again. I knew there was so much more to see.Around every corner was a new line of VW variety.There were some very clean and classic VWs, along with some projects and custom builds.There’s nothing wrong with a little rust and some scratches.
