2013 Gathering Of Friends VII (All European Car Show)

Laguna Lake Park in San Luis Obispo, California made a beautiful backdrop for this event. The Seventh Annual “Gathering of Friends” - Concours d'Elegance for all European Cars, was held on Sunday July 14th.This yearly event is proudly put together by The Central Coast Region of the Porsche Club of America in conjunction with the Central Coast 356 Porsche Club.With over 145 entries at the event, there were many seldom seen historic vehicles on display. The majority of the California Central Coast’s European car groups were represented with cars entered from the Central Coast Region Porsche Club of America, Sons of Lucas (British Cars), Central Coast Vintage VW Club, Central Coast 356 Club, Central Coast Jaguar Club and the local Mercedes Benz Club.This was my first time attending the event and I thought it was organized very well. It had a great layout and was easy to navigate. If you are a Porsche fan, you would have LOVED it. I could not turn around without seeing a Porsche. I personally would have liked to see more Vintage VWs, but the few in attendance were very clean and well taken care of.I really enjoyed the variety of cars on display. From a Maserati to a Delorean….From a Rolls Royce to an Austin Healey …....and everything in between!Now for all the Porsche lovers out there – this is for you!I don’t know about you, but whenever I go to a car show –there’s always that one car that catches my eye like no other. The car I spend more time looking at. The one I take way more pictures of. The one I can’t take my mind off of on the drive back home.This was it. A big part of why it caught my eye was the color - I LOVE blue, and I saw it from all the way across the park. It popped out at me and was calling my name. This was my show favorite.There’s just one more car I have to mention. This car was NOT part of the show – but it was my favorite of the day.Why? This car holds a very special place in my heart. The VW R32. For those who don’t know, I was recently in a car accident. I had a 2008 VW R32 and it was totaled just 2 months after I got it. I only had a short time with the car but it was love at first drive.If you know anything about this car, you know what I mean when I say it’s special. If you don’t know what I mean, just do a little research (if you’re interested, of course!). I will say though, that only 5,000 were made and it’s really a rare thing for me to see one in my area.As I drove around looking for a parking spot in a park I’ve never been to, I come across this beauty. As soon as I saw it – and the open parking spot in front of it – I had to stop and take a few shots. This is not the model I had though. This is the 2004 model.I think both are beautiful and I will own another one someday.I hope you enjoyed my coverage – until next time!!-@angie529
